atmosphere for the spiritual growth of children.

Dear Parent,

Our Junior Center for Spiritual Living is designed to teach your child that there is a strength, power, wisdom and intelligence inherent within each one of us that enables us to be whatever we choose to be.

Participating will empower your child by learning the principles of Science of Mind® in a fun, interesting way, using discussion, stories, puppet shows and craft activities which will assist them in integrating these principles into their daily lives.

Each child will take home their craft activity that will be used as a tool through which they can practice these principles at home. Your involvement and participation in their practice will be most beneficial in nurturing your child’s spiritual growth.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Hours:

The Junior Center for Spiritual Living activity begins at 10:30 AM. Children will be brought into Sunday Meeting Hall at the end of the lesson to rejoin their family members.

Sign In:

Children must be signed-in by a parent or guardian. The child will receive a name tag. It is important that the parent/guardian remain at the Sunday Service so that they can be easily contacted.

Staff:

Our teachers are volunteers who are attending Sunday Services of the Center for Spiritual Living Long Island regularly. They are deeply committed members of the center and have completed at least four units of accredited Science of Mind® classes.

Class Format:

Spiritual mind treatments (Affirmative Prayer,) affirmations, and readings from the Science of Mind textbook by Ernest Holmes and craft activities related to the lesson will be part of their Junior Center experience. A love offering will be taken. Following, the children return to Sunday Meeting Hall to briefly tell the adults what they have learned and re-join their parents/guardians.

WHAT WE TEACH

Oneness - There is only One Omnipresent Power, Presence and Principle that expresses through us, as us. We are one with It.

Spiritual Mind Treatment - Our form of affirmative prayer.

Qualities of God - Life, Light, Love, Joy, Peace, Order, etc. We each express these qualities of God as we are open to them.

Power - How we can use The Creative Medium of Spirit, with which we are cocreators, to enhance our lives.

Law of Correspondence - Everything in our outer experience is a mental equivalent of our consciousness and our beliefs. The importance of our thoughts, feelings and words.

Gratitude - The practice of praise and appreciation for everything.

Generosity - Happily sharing with others, knowing that there is an Infinite Supply for everyone.

Inspiration & Intuition - “Going within” for guidance.

Affirmation - A strong, positive statement about oneself or life.

NURTURING YOUR CHILD’S

SPIRITUALITY AT HOME

Every day,

• Encourage your child to think about God’s presence in everyone and everything.

• Encourage your child to use what they have learned on Sunday with their family, friends, at school and in every area of their lives.

• Practice Treatment (affirmative prayer) with you child.

• Be an example of unconditional love, joy, peace, harmony, and celebration of life.

• Every month your child will receive a handout pertaining to the lessons for that month. Please set aside time to read it (and any other materials given) with your child to reinforce the ideas they have learned.

AFFIRMATIVE PRAYER FOR TEACHING

AND WORKING WITH CHILDREN

Knowing that there is One Infinite and Omnipresent Power, Presence and Principle, I affirm that I am one with It. It operates through me now as wisdom, intelligence and guidance in all that I do with and for every child.

I know the One Loving Presence is creating for each child a life of health, happiness, peace, joy, creativity, freedom and ease.

I embrace this Truth and state my commitment to be a loving example of Spirit’s Presence. I bring this commitment into the life of my family, my friends, my church and, all areas of my life.

I know that Spirit now supports me in this commitment and guides me in my teaching, my words and my actions to provide an atmosphere of unconditional love, joy and peace for each child.

Thanking Spirit for Its loving presence in every child and for Its expression of love through everything I think, feel and do,

I release this treatment into the law.
